The Delmore Brothers & Deford Bailey

The Delmore Brothers’ traveled with Deford Bailey treating him like he was family. It was during a difficult time and they sometimes had to sneak Deford into Hotels & restaurants. It was a rule that if Deford wasn’t welcome then they weren’t either. A lot of times if they were close enough to my MeMaw’s in Athens State University, Athens, AL, they would travel there where Deford was dearly loved by my MeMaw and the rest of the family. Plus he loved her cooking!
